The Indian Institute of Technology Jammu (IIT Jammu) was established in 2016 under the Government of India???s initiative to expand IITs across the country. It is the first IIT in Jammu & Kashmir, strategically located along the Nagrota Bypass Road in Jammu.

IIT Jammu started initially from a transit campus inside the Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) and then moved to its permanent eco-friendly campus of 400 acres at Jagti. The campus is being developed in phases and has smart classrooms, high-end laboratories, incubation-providing facilities, and green infrastructure.

The institute promotes interdisciplinary learning, industry linkages and global exposure; it nurtures a sustainable culture of creativity and innovation.

Life at IIT Jammu is full of excitement, with flagship festivals such as Technunctus (Technical-Cultural Fest) all along the year, Intra and Inter-IIT competitions are also given due importance.
